Born in 1816, Andrew Steinmetz briefly joined the Jesuits in England, with those few months in a novitiate becoming a subject a book he published in 1846. Two years later, he published a larger narrative on the history of the Society of Jesus. A more complete and recent history of the Society of Jesus is available at Jesuit Sources.
