ISO Bulletin

Title: ISO Bulletin

Available online: November 1943 – April 1947 (34 issues)

The ISO Bulletin was the publication of the Institute of Social Order (ISO). The Institute was founded in 1941, largely under the inspiration of Jesuit leaders concerned with the relationship between Catholic teaching and contemporary social, political, and economic problems, particularly in the context of World War II and its aftermath. The ISO Bulletin, launched in 1943, served several key purposes: the dissemination of Catholic social teaching; education and formation; engagement with wartime and postwar issues; providing a contrast to Communism; and acting as a networking tool for Jesuit educators, social activists, and Catholic institutions working on labor, education, and racial issues across the country. Initially, the Bulletin was intended for internal use only and was published with the title Social Order from the September-October 1947’s issue. (1943-1947; 34 issues; English)
